Market status of China's port bulk cargo transportation industry in 2022

Nov 09, 2022

Bulk cargo is divided into bulk cargo and container bulk cargo, bulk cargo is divided into liquid bulk cargo and dry bulk cargo. General port bulk cargo refers to dry bulk cargo. Dry bulk cargo mainly includes coal, metal ores, non-metallic ores, steel, cement, wood, grain, fertilizer, salt, mining construction materials and other 10 categories.

Container transport is an advanced and efficient mode of cargo transport. As a large manufacturing country, China has maintained a high growth rate of container cargo transport for a long time. However, affected by economic fluctuations and foreign trade relations, the throughput growth rate fluctuated slightly, which declined to a certain extent in 2019 and rebounded to 8.217 billion tons in 2020. In 2021, the throughput of China's port dry bulk cargo market will be about 8,644 million tons. In 2022, China's economy is expected to continue to maintain stable growth, including infrastructure investment is likely to exceed expectations, which is conducive to the growth of dry bulk cargo transport demand. It is expected that the annual throughput of China's port dry bulk cargo market will exceed 900,000 tons.
